JAPANESE KIMONO & YUKATA

 

THE KIMONO is a traditional Japanese garment worn by men, women and children of all ages.

Kimono are most often worn by women and on special occasions. 

Men wear kimono often at weddings, tea ceremonies and other special or formal occasions.

In Summer,  a lighter cotton form of kimono is worn. This is called YUKATA. This garment is also worn by men,women and children.



Special interest classes on how to wear the Yukata & Kimono are open at the Bujinkan Tasmania Dojo.



Classes are taught by Minako Stewart. Minako studied at a Kimono school in Japan and is a qualified Kitsuke ( kimono/traditional garment ) teacher.

She is excited about sharing the beauty of her culture with you.



You will learn:



  • How to wear Yukata and Kimono.

       How to walk, sit and present yourself with Japanese manner.

       Important cultural aspects.



  • Some classes will include Japanese tea with sweets.



  • Students may take their own photographs as well.



  • Various programs are available. Please contact below for further information.( minimum 2 persons. maximum 5  persons ) $20 per person.

      Classes are held at the Bujinkan Tasmania Dojo.
